Builders are beginning to turn to a new system for delivering hot and cold water in homes.
A system is starting to take hold, whereby there is a central point for the distribution of hot and cold water, with individual lines running from the manifold rather than a network of many branch lines with various fitting and valves. The water is transported by new high-temperature, flexible, corrosion resistant plastic piping known as cross-linked polyethylene piping (PEX).
This method is more cost effective, and easier to install in both new construction and existing homes. It also comes color coded for easy identification.
